A peaceful and easygoing space during the day and a romantic and serene space come night, it's sure to please both mind and palette with it's variety of options and wonderful aesthetics.
Although we only ate outdoors, they still take care to bring an upscale appeal and comfortable air. There's a nice warmth about the environment and you can definitely pick up on the romantic tones the moment you approach the establishment. There's a nice sense of closeness it builds and an appeal of coziness with it's close - set tables and aesthetic designs of the architecture. With fair warning to the close proximity of the seating arrangements, it is still possible to maneuver relatively comfortably but it's recommended to bring small bags or cats and to be careful when walking through as pass through space is a bit limited. The tables themselves can also get a bit cramped when ordering more than one meal so it's recommended to keep a menu if you feel you'd like to try a host of items so your dining space isn't cramped, however, it isn't an uncomfortable experience and is likely something that won't be too noticeable.
The food has great flavor and the portions are more than filling (I highly recommend sharing with more than 1 person as I was barely able to finish my meal even when sharing with another; we could comfortably at least feed 2 - 3 individuals given appetites). From the taste to the plating, you can see that care and effort is definitely placed in the items they make and it shows clearly through the presentation and delivery of every dish. We ordered the oven baked meatballs, veal picatta and frutti di mare (our meals also came with complimentary bread, olive oil and I believe a side salad as well). Out of these dishes, our favorites were the oven baked meatball and frutti di mare as they had the most variety in flavor and we enjoyed the deep richness of the seasonings for the meatballs and the refreshing lightness of the variety for the frutti pasta. The heaviness of the fried cutlet was a lot to deal with and the lemon sauce became a bit tiring to deal with after awhile, however, it was still a nice dish (if you're a big fan of fried foods and / or light sauces then then I'd still recommend this one also). Like any restaurant, I say it's worth a shot to give everything a try when you can and find what better appeals to your taste, but all of the food we had that night was pleasing and filling!
Staff were polite, cordial and often checked in with patrons to ensure their dining experience was pleasant. They worked fast and effectively and we didn't have any issues. We were greeted like everyone else and they made our time there as comfortable as possible despite how busy it was the night we attended.
While the space is family friendly and great for familiar gatherings, I feel that this would be a perfect recommendation for couples looking for an environment where everything fosters a boost of intimacy and allows for quality time spent with one another. It does attract a large amount of people quickly so reservations are highly recommended especially to cut down on...
Read moreI've never been to San Antonio before and was very excited to spend my birthday here. All of the places we went and restaurants we ate at were great until we got to this one. My friend spent a month planning this trip for me, she made reservations. There was a long line about 20 minutes long and we went to the front since we had reservations. We were told to go to the back of the line that they just took people in line. I asked "You don't honor reservations?", they just shrugged their shoulders and said "No, we just go by the line we take people one by one as they come." I asked for a manager who was helping another couple complaining about the same issue. They got their table, we did not. I spoke to two women at the front desk, one woman said her name was Frankie, I didn't get the name of the other woman. Another couple came behind us with a reservation as well and was told to go to the back. At that point I told the woman at the front that she was going to lose two tables, because of not honoring the reservations and she just shrugged her shoulders and said "oh well (with a smile)."
My friend wanted to stay because it was a very busy evening in San Antonio and there would probably be a wait everywhere. When we finally got seated it took another 20 minutes to get silverware and water. Then we had to request a waiter. When the waiter finally got there I think his name was Guillermo, I explained all my frustrations to him and he said "I don't want to wait on you I'm going to get somebody else." I have honestly never ever in my life had a experience like this. Never! At any rate, they sent James, a very kind charismatic, handsome, waiter to help us. He took very good care of us and we appreciate that. I'm just mentioning all of this, because this could have been averted by simply saying something like yes ma'am stand right here will get you seated as soon as we can, even if they didn't have a table yet, be honest with us. Not say go to the back of the line when you have a reservation we just take people as they come. What a reservations for? Basically the service was horrible until James got there, but the food was good.
Because of the service I received, the stress I saw in the wait staff and other tables complaining. As well as people in line complaining about the reservations not being honored, I would not recommend this...
Read moreMy experience started with a warm greeting from the hostess, Maddie outside of this beautiful location. She informed me that there was no more outdoor seating available and that there was available seating at the bar. This was at 12:50p. Okay. Ill bite. Found out it was booked for a private event.
Now its been my goal to find the best Lasagne in San Antonio. This has been a challenge to say the least. That and steak tacos. They are my favorite dishes, so i was hoping Paesanos was up to the challenge.
Once i walked in. I got an eye roll from the bartender. He seemed more interested in chatting with the female coworker at the bar as i sat down. He seemed irritated that i sat down and wanted to order food. I told him what i wanted and wanted to grab a soda. This is a treat to me because my diet recently has been restricted. So the cold welcome was unexepected from an Italian restaurant.
The Lasgne came fairly quickly. Beautifully constructed. Heated up the right way. The bolognese was not watery or runny. Thick. Like its supposed to be. Ingredients taste quality. The sauce not sweet or tart. The layers a great balance of bolognese and ricotta.
As my meal was nearly complete, the bartender became slightly more attentive. My drink remained empty. Which was disapointing. The whole thing was a middle ground experience.
This couldve been an incredible experience. A phenomenal opportunity for the bartender. Outside seating closed for an event, which means more customers at the bar. The chance to upsell me never was offered. Which wouldve built guest check averages. A warm greeting wouldve provided more opportunity for him to have customers providing higher ability for tip generation. However he was more focused on socializing with staff and his daily prep work then his pocket. Had he taken thw opportunity to do those extra little steps, i am sure i would be raving about this place and it would get 5 stars. Instead of me just mentioning the food was perfectly cooked and its a beautiful restaurant.
