San Diego's Sweet, Spicy, and Mellow

In my days in San Diego, I often think of the times Y and I searched for good food together. Looking through my phone photos now, I realize it wasn't until 2022 that I truly started documenting these flavors with pictures. 🍜 It’s a bit regrettable—so many wonderful tastes weren’t preserved earlier. I remember once, after dinner at a small restaurant, Y patted his stomach and said with a laugh, “Still not full. How about we grab something extra at Hashi?” I immediately nodded, “Let’s go!” 🚗 Back then, we always felt there was room for more in our stomachs, as if life offered endless time to spare. Years passed, and changes came quietly. Now, when Y and I meet for meals, the most common phrase has become, “That’s enough, don’t order too much—we really can’t eat that much anymore.” 💬 I suppose life is like this too—starting with “sweet,” wanting to try everything, finding everything new and exciting; moving to “spicy,” learning about choices and limits; and finally settling into “mellow,” understanding how to appreciate just what is right in front of you. 📸 Just like how I take photos now—not pursuing quantity, but cherishing the stories and warmth behind each meal even more. These changes are probably what growing up is about. 🌱 No longer eager to fill something up, but learning to savor what you already have. The San Diego sun is still lovely, and Y and I still meet for meals—it’s just that there are fewer dishes on the table, but more words shared between us. #FoodMemories #LifeReflections #TracesOfTime #SanDiegoDays #SimpleFlavors #GrowthNotes #SweetSpicyMellow
