San Diego | A True Food Kitchen Healthy Dining Experience

On the weekend, I visited True Food Kitchen with my family. This health-focused restaurant has pretty good reviews online. As soon as you walk in, the atmosphere feels refreshing 🌿—white and wood-toned decor gives off a "you'll become healthier just by eating here" kind of vibe. We ordered two signature dishes: the seasonal vegetable salad and the wild shrimp purple rice bowl. The salad was truly impressive! đŸ„— The vegetables were fresh and crisp, tossed in a light lemon dressing and topped with pumpkin seeds and pomegranate seeds—layers of texture and flavor. I’d give this salad a perfect score 💯. If I only ate this, I’d probably become a regular. But the wild shrimp purple rice bowl was a bit of a surprise
🍛 The shrimp were tender, and the purple rice was cooked just right, but the red chili peppers hidden inside were like little explosive surprises đŸŒ¶ïž! I didn’t notice at first, but the second bite brought a wave of spiciness straight to my head, and I quickly downed half a glass of water. My family joked, “These chilies must have been working out—they pack such a punch!” When it comes to portion sizes, it’s definitely on the delicate side. For someone with an average appetite like me, one bowl left me about 70–80% full, but those with bigger appetites might find it a bit light. The prices are on the higher side for San Diego 💾—two main dishes and drinks came close to $50 after tax. While paying, my family whispered, “With such small portions and high prices, could they be going out of business?” I looked it up afterward—this chain is actually quite widespread, with locations from the East Coast to the West Coast, so it’s probably just their positioning. Overall, True Food Kitchen is best suited for those who prefer light, ingredient-forward meals. If you love bold flavors or are looking for great value, you might want to think twice. After all, with healthy dining, it’s sometimes hard to have both a “comfortable” meal and an “exciting” one 😌. #SanDiegoFood #HealthyDiningExperience #TrueFoodKitchen #FoodJournal #LightMeals #VegetableSalad #EverydayFoodExplore
