San Diego | SoCal Japanese Restaurant 😋

When you're in San Diego and craving a comforting Japanese meal, 🍣 there are plenty of options. But when it comes to a no-fuss, family-style spot, I always think of Izakaya Sakura. ✨ This place is family-run, and you can feel the warm, welcoming atmosphere as soon as you step inside. The owner greets you warmly, and the service is thoughtful—it feels like eating at a friend’s place, completely different from those impersonal chain restaurants. ❤️ They have a sushi bar, but I have to confess… every time I go, I almost always head straight for the curry rice and omurice! 😉 Their Japanese curry is truly authentic—perfectly thick, not too sweet or too spicy. The carrots and potatoes are stewed until tender and flavorful, making them a perfect match with rice! 🍛 And my all-time favorite is the omurice! Gently slice it open with a spoon, and the smooth egg wrap envelops the fried rice. Add a little ketchup… one bite, and it’s super satisfying! 🤤 That feeling of happiness—you’ll know it once you try it! Every set meal comes with a side salad and miso soup. Simple, but just right. The miso soup is well-seasoned, and the salad is refreshing and helps cut through the richness. Eating the whole set leaves you feeling warm and content. 👍 In short, if you’re in San Diego and tired of those flashy, fancy restaurants, and you’re looking for an affordable, hearty, and authentic Japanese eatery, Izakaya Sakura is definitely my top recommendation! It might not blow you away for Instagram, but it’ll definitely earn a spot on your go-to list, making you come back again and again. 👏 📍: 3904 Convoy St, San Diego, CA 92111 #SanDiegoEats #SanDiegoLife #SanDiegoJapaneseFood #SanDiegoWeekend #SDJapaneseFood
