San Diego | Taste of Hunan

📍 At "Taste of Hunan" in San Diego, I find myself returning every so often to enjoy a satisfying meal. It's also my go-to recommendation whenever friends visit the area. Recently, they introduced new dishes, so of course I had to go and try them! 😊 🍆🥚🌶️ The classic "Eggplant, Pepper, and Mashed Century Egg" remains my favorite! The soft eggplant, fresh peppers, and century egg are pounded together, creating a rich and flavorful dish that always hits the spot. 🦐 The new "Garlic Shrimp" is plated similarly to their previous garlic scallops, but with shrimp as the star. The shrimp are cleaned thoroughly, making them easy and tasty to eat, with plenty of garlic flavor. 🥢 The "Vinegar Black Fungus" is decent—tangy and appetizing. The "Radish Pork Bone Soup" is deliciously savory and somehow reminds me of lotus root and pork rib soup! The bones are quite large, so they can be a bit tricky to eat, but they're perfect for those who enjoy gnawing on bones. 🌶️🥩 The "Wife-style Beef" is diced quite small and stir-fried with peppers, so you have to pick through it slowly. Perhaps this dish is meant to be eaten with the peppers, so it might not suit those who prefer no spice at all. 🥬 The "Oil-Splashed Tofu Skin Strips" look bright red but aren't very spicy. The tofu skin is soft and well-seasoned, making it a nice vegetarian option. 🍦✅ The latest pleasant surprise: while waiting for a table or after finishing your meal, the restaurant offers free ice cream! There are two flavors—honeydew and purple sweet potato—both sweet and refreshing, providing a sweet ending to the meal. ✨ Overall, Taste of Hunan remains consistently reliable, offering both classic favorites and enjoyable new dishes. I’d recommend it to anyone who enjoys Hunan cuisine and wants a satisfying, flavorful meal! 👍 #TasteOfHunan #SanDiegoFood #HunanCuisine #FoodExploring #FoodShare #FoodieLife #FreeDessertSurprise
