San Diego | The Marine Room

San Diego’s coastline is full of delightful surprises, and The Marine Room is undoubtedly one of its shining gems 🌊. I made a reservation in advance through Open Table for the lounge area and specifically requested a window seat—after all, this place is famous for its sunset ocean views. How could I miss the moment when golden sunlight spills over the Pacific? 🌅 It did not disappoint. Through the floor-to-ceiling windows, gentle waves lapped at the shore, while the sunset dyed the clouds a honeyed hue, with occasional seabirds gliding by. A view like this truly deserves to be called a “beautiful meal.” I couldn’t help but take plenty of photos 📸. Although it’s labeled as a French restaurant, the atmosphere wasn’t as formal as I expected. Most guests were dressed in shirts or elegant dresses, but there was no strict dress code. For the starter, I tried the Thai Curry Soup with crab meat—a delightful surprise! 🥣 The rich coconut flavor paired with tender crab, and a subtle spiciness awakened the palate. The Butter Poached Lobster was plump and springy, though a bit too salty, making me reach for water several times 🦞. The Truffle Risotto was rich and creamy, but for those accustomed to lighter flavors, it might feel a bit heavy. I only managed a few bites. The standout was the cheesecake for dessert 🧀. It looked like a floral work of art, with a light, creamy texture that melted on the tongue—a perfect balance to the earlier saltiness. If your budget allows, pairing the meal with wine would make it even more enjoyable (I couldn’t help admiring the rosé sparkling wine at the next table 🍾). When we left, the sky had deepened into a dark blue, and the sound of waves continued beyond the windows. Though the flavors of this $100+ per person dinner had their ups and downs, that breathtaking sunset over the ocean will likely stay in my memory for a long, long time 💫. #SanDiegoDining #OceanViewRestaurant #SunsetRomance #FoodJournal #CaliforniaLife #TravelDiaries #FoodieAdventures
