San Diego Food Adventure: Oyster Edition

During my week in San Diego for the SfN conference, I squeezed in visits to three oyster spots and was completely won over by the fresh seafood here! 🦪✨ The first was Ironside Fish & Oyster. Their oysters were plump and meaty, with a great variety—it was my first time realizing I prefer "meaty" oysters! 🤤 Though a bit pricey, the Happy Hour $1 oysters were a steal! 💰 Next, Water Grill SD offered oysters that were the opposite—juicy and melting in your mouth! 🥰 Their homemade sauce with a smoky flavor was a standout. The prices were reasonable, perfect for casual outings. The biggest surprise was the Ocean Beach Farmer’s Market! Every Wednesday night, the market greets you with sizzling grilled seafood stalls, featuring scallops and oysters. 🧀🔥 Fresh shellfish topped with cheese and grilled to crispy perfection—I devoured them instantly! Sadly, the sea urchin was sold out, so I’ll save that for next time.
