Sanjusangendo Hall(1)πΊπ
Japan's first national treasure, Sanjusangendo Hall, is a Tendai Sect temple hall located outside the Myohoji Temple in Kyoto. ππ’ It has earned the distinction of being the first national treasure due to the 1,001 statues of the Thousand-Armed Kannon enshrined within and the "world's largest" architectural features. πΊπ The main hall, with a total length of 120 meters, is made entirely of wood. πΊπ Thirty-four rows of columns divide it into thirty-three sections (each about 1.8 meters wide), hence the name "Sanjusangendo" (Hall of Thirty-Three Bays). In terms of building length, it is the world's longest single wooden structure. ππ’ The temple was originally built in 1164 but was destroyed by a fire in 1249 and rebuilt on the same site in 1266. In the main hall, at the center, there is a finely carved statue of the Eleven-Headed Thousand-Armed Kannon. ππ’ The exquisite craftsmanship is mainly reflected in the 11 faces on the statue's head and the 40 different hand gestures. πΊπ #Kyoto πΏ
