Sauk Mountain in Seattle

🔷 Journey Located in the western part of North Cascades National Park, it is about 2 hours from Seattle. 🥰After exiting the highway, you need to drive 7 miles on a zigzagging dirt road. The turns generally have many potholes and are not suitable for small cars. There are pull-out areas along the road for passing and meeting other vehicles. 🔷 Hiking The round trip is about 4 miles. The first two-thirds of the trail consists of switchbacks, which can be quite strenuous. It took us 2 hours round trip (a rare sub-2-hour hike in the North Cascades). ✨It is recommended to hike in the morning, as this section is on the shaded side of the mountain and is less sunny. By mid-July, there is basically no snow. On July 21st, the wildflowers were still in full bloom, with about a dozen different varieties. 🔷 Essential Gear ‼️ Insect repellent. The higher you go, the more mosquitoes there are, but reapplying it helped a lot. 🔷 Unfortunately, due to wildfires, visibility was very low. At higher elevations, a layer of smoke was clearly visible, obscuring views of other mountains in the park. However, Mt. Baker could still be seen quite clearly. #NorthCascadesNationalPark #SeattleSurroundings #SeattleWeekends#Seattle#Seattle guide
