Savannah Travel Diary | Finding a Peaceful Southern Summer in the USA
Charleston and Savannah are often mentioned together. Earlier this year, I visited Charleston but kept delaying my Savannah trip—until last month, when a few stunning photos of Savannah convinced me to book a spontaneous weekend getaway! 💡 Itinerary: Three nights total—left Saturday morning, returned Tuesday night, with one night spent on nearby Jekyll Island (a hidden gem—let me know if you’d like a separate guide!). The remaining two nights were dedicated to exploring Savannah. ✅ Verdict? I fell in love—even more than with Charleston! Here’s why Savannah stole my heart: 1️⃣ Evening riverside strolls along uncrowded walkways, watching the bridge and sunset, then wandering to dinner under glowing streetlights. The vibe? Pure bliss. 2️⃣ Leopold’s Ice Cream—overwhelming flavor choices! Must-try: Tutti Frutti. 3️⃣ Mrs. Wilkes’ Dining Room: A Southern family-style feast (warning: *1-hour wait*). Nearby vintage shops and oak-shaded houses added charm. 4️⃣ Staying at Andaz Savannah’s Ellis Square View Suite—waking up to colorful rooftops and sunset-lit parks lifted my mood every day! 5️⃣ Sunset at Forsyth Park: Iconic fountain, Spanish moss-draped oaks, and the radiant Cathedral Basilica. Bonus: Forrest Gump’s bench (now in Savannah History Museum). 6️⃣ Broughton Street at night: Quiet, safe, and magical under twinkling lights—made for walking. 7️⃣ Wormsloe’s oak alley: As dreamy as the photos. 🍽️ Food Highlights: Mrs. Wilkes, Savannah Smokehouse, Sorry Charlies, Treylor Park. 🚫 Skip: Savannah Seafood Shack. #USTravel #NorthAmericaTravel #TravelGuide #WeekendGetaway #SavannahGA #Charleston #SouthernCharm
