Make sure your vaccinations are up to date! Went in on a Friday afternoon, during the music festival so downtown was bumping. No one to greet and seat us. I should have just left right then and there. Mexican place right next door, Kayak Cafe is always reliable. But we stuck it out because SOMEONE had to have a turkey burger and this place appeared to be sufficiently slow enough that service should go quickly. Now I have over 30 years of service industry experience and there was trouble right away with staffing. Only 2 ladies were running the bar, inside AND outside! Not good. And as I mentioned, Music Festival was ongoing so people were coming in and out for drinks, taking one woman off tables. We waited patiently, ordered loaded fries (out whatever they call their version) some drinks and waited. Drinks arrived but we had to wait a very long time for fries and when they did arrive, they were burnt on all their tips and cheese had been over baked. They left in the salamander way too long (I'm putting pics in here but they don't convey how burnt everything was very well. You can see the burnt tips clearly though) . Our waitress disappeared for a good 10 min and I think she may have had to help out in the kitchen. Or maybe she went to smoke. Or to meditate and find her balance cuz she was all over the place. I think she was helping out in the kitchen though (she didn't look calmer). And as short as the front of the house was, I imagine back of the house was too. Because when our burnt fries came out the dishes they brought us were filthy. Not just a little smudge or caked on fleck. Sticky, cloudy, bits of gunk, totally gross plates that NEVER should have made it in front of a customer. There was no clean place to touch the plate. I've never seen anything like it. We didn't touch the fries or plates. No one came to check on us until burgers came up (about 13 min later) . And it was tough getting through the burgers (which were good by the way) imaging what they were sitting on. Sending out filthy plates is a giant red flag y'all. If the staff can't take the time to wash or double check their plates (or even catch that they were filthy bringing them out. When I told her about the plates, our server looked none too surprised, like she's heard it before. That means she should have been aware though too) before, how much attention are they paying to the FOOD? I imagine many people have gotten sick from this place. We hurried up and ate the burgers, trying not to think what bacteria slab they were festering on (I just put the burger on the napkin. But was that safe? The table? Anywhere?) I have been here twice before and staffing and service always seem to be an issue. But we live here and give places multiple chances. Now with food and cleanliness being issues, we will not be coming back to this B&D again. To those who made it this far, go to the one on Congress. If you want a burger, go to McDonoughs. (If they serve them, it's been years since I was there but they were great) Tl;dr: plates were filthy, app was burnt, severely short staffed, burgers okay, servers cute, avoid this place! 0 for 3 on visits - always some sort of issue.

For someplace so hyped throughout the city (there is more than one location), this spot was on the lower end of enjoyable. The waitress was decent enough but appeared to not want to be bothered for the most part. I ordered a beef patty burger with blue cheese, grilled onions and mushrooms and my husband had a buffalo patty burger. Neither of the patties were seasoned. Fries were seasoned though. I had a Strawberry mojito and a Georgia Long Island (I think). Both tasted a bit watered down, so nothing impressive, to say the least. Overall the experience was mid.

Wife and I decided to come here after 8pm today since we had a late lunch. Inside was virtually empty except for a few patrons at the bar and a table or two. Outside had a couple of tables.

It took 5-8 minutes for our waitress to come and get our initial drink order. It had been long enough that we already had our dinner orders selected. After taking our orders, a group of 3 young men (all under drinking age) came in and began cutting up and acting like young guys. One was clearly a "class clown" type pretending to stand behind the hostess station and check his two friends in. No problem - except the waitress spent several minutes engaging with them. Again, not a terrible issue. She sits them outside on the other side of the glass where we're seated.

She them proceeds to walk around a bit. It's been 5-6 minutes and we don't have our drinks yet. She sees my face and says "I'm the only one". Ok, again, I can understand. But what pushed it over the edge for me was she went in and out another 3-4 times until she realized it had been nearly another 3-4 minutes. Finally she brought us our drinks and apologized claiming she "hadn't forgotten" us.

After finally dropping off our drinks.she proceeds to go outside to the table of 3 young men and spent nearly 8-10 minutes with them. Maybe it wasn't that long, but it was long enough I had time to sip on my water and tea to half empty. During this lengthy visit she had some kind of engagement with the table close to the street that interrupted her "conversation" with the 3 boys.

She essentially spent the bare minimum visiting us and every time she did she'd give us an excuse as to why she couldn't be more attentive. Meanwhile the 3 young boys not only got their drinks and food in a quicker time (from order to receiving) because we got our food and then a few minutes later they got theirs despite the fact we placed our order 5-10 minutes prior to theirs, but she never really stopped at our table for longer than 5 seconds until we paid the bill.

She got our drink order wrong (forgot one) and got my food order wrong (I asked for no onions on my burger and they were present). I also barely saw any BBQ sauce on my $20 burger and had to ask for more.

This was my first time visiting Savannah and I was thoroughly disappointed. I won't be recommending this place in the future and probably won't return on subsequent visits.

I hope those 3 young boys had enough to make up for the tip she lost from us for giving us the bare minimum.

Food was average.

Service was poor.

Note: a group of about 6-7 came in and eventually left because they never got sat in the 5-7 minutes they were...

Earlier today, my boyfriend and I (frequent Savannah visitors as we live an hour away and he attends a college in the area) decided to stop for lunch, but wanted to go somewhere new. After twenty minutes of researching local restaurants, we came across B & D Burgers. With high reviews and an appealing menu we made our way over. When we walked in, it was great. Wonderful atmosphere, seated immediately, and greeted by a server asking for a drink orders. Awesome. But then it started to go down hill.

She took our drink orders and left for about five minutes before bringing us our drinks, which would not have been a problem if we weren't the only people in the restaurant, but no biggie, it happens. We figure out what we want, and sit there for another ten minutes, on our phones, waiting for her to take our order. Did she not notice that we were on our phones for ten minutes? We order our food, two elk burgers (we had never had it before, the sole reason we went was to try elk.), he ordered sweet potato fries, and I ordered a side Caesar salad. We also ordered an appetizer, the buffalo chicken chip dip. After some time, we got our appetizer, and it was amazing. Our high hopes for the store were being proven, and we could NOT wait to try our burgers. Another ten minutes later we got our burgers. I tried the salad first, it was good but warm. Not the best, but nothing to complain about. He described the sweet potato fries as "tasteless". After trying our sides we were ready for the burgers. And then we weren't. The first bite wasn't terrible, but it is not what I expected. After eating half of my burger, I could not go any further. It was SO TOUGH that my jaw hurt. There was no pink in the middle of either of them, and we both ordered them medium. The flavor was cooked right out, and it was so rubbery it was inedible. We would not be complaining if we hadn't spent 58 dollars on two meals that weren't even edible.

Instead of causing a problem (as we do not like to be trouble makers) we ate what we could and left, leaving a generous tip (the only complaint towards the server was having an empty cup for most of the visit, because she refilled once, after 15 minutes of it being empty). The service was not terrible, but the food was over-cooked and inedible. After eating dinner, my jaw was in MORE pain from the trauma it endured earlier in the day.

We will never go back, and we will make sure our friends know about our experience. As foodies, and people who eat out almost every night, we are both severely disappointed and regret spending...
