Seattle’s Healing Eatery 🍵 Japanese Unagi Ochazuke 🥢
I explored this place with a pretty junior college student. Onibaba, a Japanese eatery located in the International District 🏮, has been recommended by many. We ordered some of the most classic dishes: 🍵 Unagi Yaki Ochazuke - Grilled Eel Rice Soaked in Tea The grilled eel was aromatic, and the portion was just right, not too heavy. The tea used for the ochazuke wasn’t the light, tea-flavored broth I expected; instead, it was a mix of soy sauce and oil with a hint of MSG. It didn’t quite meet expectations…! 🍳 Una Tama Jyu - Eel and Hot Spring Egg Rice A pretty standard dish of hot spring egg with soy sauce rice, sprinkled with seaweed and sesame seeds, complemented by sweet eel sauce. To be honest, it’s a bit too sweet and can become cloying by the end. 🍙 mentaiko Cream Rice Ball This was my favorite dish as a rice ball enthusiast 👍🏻 The combination of mayonnaise and mentaiko is rich in flavor, with the rice being firm and chewy. Highly recommended! I think I can look forward to trying their other rice balls. The restaurant is decorated in an elegant Japanese style. However, it’s not very large and fills up quickly. No reservations are accepted, so if you don’t arrive when they open, you might have to wait outside in the cold wind 🌀 #Seattle #SeattleLife #SeattleSurroundings #SeattleFood #SeattleFoodExploration #uw #UW #UniversityOfWashington
