Seattle’s Hidden Italian Tavern in the Corner of Queen Anne
Tucked away on a corner of Queen Anne’s main street, this place has a bell at the entrance that you ring to summon the waiter. The name comes from Italy’s national drink, Grappa, a brandy distilled from the leftover grape marc after winemaking. The candles in the shop are never cleaned up after burning, resulting in a waterfall of accumulated white wax flowing down to the counter 🕯️ The menu has two sides, and it’s easy to miss the row of pastas on the back. All the dishes are labeled with calories, so those anxious about calories can choose with peace of mind. The must-try signature dish is their seafood rice pot 🥘 (Grappa’s Famous Paella), served sizzling in a small iron pot, filled with clams, mussels, squid, and shrimp. The rice has a good texture and isn’t undercooked. The Pesto Mussels are quite good, served with bread to soak up the sauce, the Watermelon Gazpacho is refreshing and perfect for summer, and the Shishito Peppers are a bit oily, as if they’ve been fried. 📆 Opens at 10am on weekends and 11am on weekdays. Reservations can be made through OpenTable. #Seattle #SeattleLife #DiscoveringTreasureTaverns #SeattleFood #SeattleExploration #SeattleDailyLife
