Seattle’s Hottest Izakaya Review 🍶 | Tamari Bar – Just Okay, Not Wow
Saw tons of hype about Tamari Bar online, so I finally went to check it out 🤩! To be honest, it’s decent but didn’t live up to my expectations—neither good nor bad, just average. Below is my ranking of the dishes from best to worst! 🌟 Hiyashi Rice This one was actually really good! Eggplant and cheese curry rice served in a piping hot stone pot 🥘. Stir it quickly while it’s hot, and the cheese pulls into amazing strings 🧀! The creamy cheese paired with soft, mushy eggplant is so flavorful—super delicious, I couldn’t stop eating! 🌟 The Best Bite Seared wagyu sushi topped with uni—sounds amazing just by name, right? 🥢 It’s $8 per piece, totally worth it (you get what you pay for, no loss here)! The wagyu is tender and fatty, and the uni adds a rich, briny flavor—perfect combo! 🌟 The Rockin Beef Wagyu shoulder + Japanese BBQ sauce + garlic slices + wasabi 🥩. They give you a huge hot stone to DIY grilling—super fun and novel, more of an experiential dish! If the stone cools down later, you can ask the server for a new one 🔥. The taste is okay, but the experience is the highlight here. 🌟 TAKO WASABI Wasabi octopus served with nori 🐙. It comes out super fast, perfect for munching on while waiting for other dishes. The octopus is chewy, and the wasabi kick is just right—great for satisfying cravings! 🌟 Tempura Shrimp Roll I forgot the exact name of this roll 😅. I just asked the server if they had any tempura rolls, and this is what she recommended. It’s pretty average—you can get this kind of roll at many sushi places, nothing special. 🌟 Tori Kara-age Japanese fried chicken that didn’t live up to the standard 🐔. It wasn’t juicy at all—kind of dry, and the skin was way too thick. Each piece is huge, making it really cumbersome to eat. Disappointing! 🌟 Tora Gozen This platter is only available during happy hour—DON’T ORDER IT! ❌ The sashimi quality is not good, and most of the other items are just fillers. There was even potato chips and macaroni in it—I have no idea why those were included. Total waste of money! Four of us ate, and the average cost per person was around $30+ 💰. The lighting inside the restaurant is quite dim, not suitable for taking photos 📸. I think I’m more into sashimi-heavy Japanese food; this kind of izakaya is okay for an occasional meal, but I probably won’t be a repeat customer. #CapitolHillEats #SeattleLife #SeattleIzakaya #SeattleJapaneseFood #UniversityOfWashington #SeattleFood #SeattleFoodie #SeattleFoodAdventure #TamariBar #IzakayaFood
