Seattle’s Nordic Museum: A Tale of the North🏔 (Free Admission)

Continuing with the Seattle museum series, this time I visited the National Nordic Museum in the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle. As soon as I entered the museum, I fell in love with the minimalist Nordic design inside. The snow-white walls paired with warm yellow wooden floors, chairs, and stairs create a sense of space without losing warmth. 😍 Besides the architecture, my favorite part is the large screen projection on the second-floor exhibition hall. A huge screen displaying the beautiful landscapes of different Nordic countries reminded me of my favorite trip to Norway (especially the Lofoten Islands)!\ Most of the museum is dedicated to showcasing Nordic customs and culture, as well as the lives of immigrants who settled in the Pacific Northwest of the United States. It’s quite enlightening. Here, I also learned that in the 19th century, many Nordic immigrants moved to the areas around Seattle because it reminded them of home! Indeed, this place is quite similar to the Nordic regions, with rolling mountains and rivers, expansive bays and forests. 🏞️ ⏰ The museum offers free admission on the first Thursday of every month, from 10 am to 5 pm. 🎟 You can book in advance on their website or get free tickets on-site. 📅 The free dates for this museum in 2022 are January 6, February 3, March 3, April 7, May 5, June 2, July 7, August 4, September 1, October 6, November 3, and December 1. Mark these dates, and if you have time, you can visit! 📆 These museums/exhibitions are also free on the first Thursday of every month: Museum of History & Industry (5 pm—8 pm), Seattle Art Museum (10 am—5 pm), Burke Museum (10 am—8 pm), Henry Art Gallery (10 am—7 pm) The museum is free on the last Friday of every month: Seattle Asian Art Museum (10 am—5 pm) 🎫 You can also get free access to other museums/aquariums/zoo through the Seattle Public Library Card’s Museum Pass program! #Seattle #SeattleTravel #SeattleSurroundings #SeattleWeekend #WhereToGoOnTheWeekend #WashingtonState #TravelUSA #USA
