Seattle's Must-Visit Century-Old Seafood Restaurant
I’ve tried the famous hand-served seafood near Pike Place Market before and found it just okay, so this time I skipped it and opted for Taylor Shellfish instead—and it was a great choice! 🦪 The oysters were incredibly fresh, all sourced from Washington. We tried the daily special—six varieties—and every one was delicious! I’d say they’re even fresher and tastier than Hog Island Oysters in the Bay Area 😋. 🌟 Geoduck sashimi: So sweet and flavorful! Each bite was so fresh it felt like a celebration. The portion felt more generous and affordable compared to Chinese restaurants, and the quality was top-notch. 🥣 Clam chowder: Made with geoduck—refreshing and not overly creamy or heavy. A lighter take that worked well. 🦞 Seafood stew: decent, but I was expecting a traditional preparation. Instead, they gave it a Thai twist with coconut curry flavors. It paired nicely with bread, though. 🦀 Crab: Served cold and pre-seasoned. I found it a bit salty, and the dipping sauce was somewhat heavy. Not bad, but not outstanding. They also offer ceviche and other raw fish dishes, which looked promising. Overall, Taylor Shellfish is a fantastic spot—their oysters are absolutely stellar! However, the clam chowder and seafood stew didn’t quite measure up to Hog Island’s versions in the Bay Area.
