Seattle | Paragliding View from Poo Poo Point Summit 🪂
The weather was amazing yesterday! It feels like summer is really coming to Seattle, and I can happily go hiking all sorts of trails! 😄 ⛰️ This time I visited a popular hiking spot in Seattle - Poo Poo Point. The name sounds a bit funny, but apparently “Poo Poo” is supposed to be the sound of logging or the tooting of a train horn… I’m not sure which story is true… But as long as the view is beautiful, that’s all that matters, haha! 🚗 There are limited parking spots, so it’s good to go early. I arrived around 9 am and there were no spots left. After driving around for a while, I finally found a $5 parking lot 🅿️ just a two-minute walk away, which is quite spacious. You can park for the whole day. Just scan the QR code to pay via Venmo and note your license plate number, or leave cash. The name suggests it’s run by a Chinese person; they really have a business mindset! 🧗♀️ About the trail, I’d give it a 3-star difficulty level. There are quite a few rocky paths that aren’t too easy to climb, and it might be a bit challenging for beginners, leaving you breathless 😮💨. I recommend wearing hiking shoes as the small stones can be slippery. The whole trip is about 3 hours round trip. As you near the summit, there’s a large field where you can see Mt. Rainier in the distance. I was a bit disappointed because there were too many clouds when I went. At the summit, you can see stunning views and many people paragliding 🪂. I asked around and you can fly with an instructor for $250 per session, or if you want to learn at the training base at the foot of the mountain, it’s$2600 for the course, LOL 😭 In summary: Choose a good day, go early for parking, wear good hiking shoes, and enjoy the beautiful view. #Seattle #SeattleSurroundings #SeattleLife #SeattleOutdoors #SeattleTravel #Hiking #Exercise #Weekend #SeattleWeekend
