Seattle 🍀 Amazon Spheres: A Tropical Rainforest in the City
Feeling really lucky this time in Seattle, with 2 consecutive days of sunshine 🌞. Although I've been here several times before, it was always overcast or rainy ☔️, and with work commitments, I never had much time to venture far from the city center. This time, I checked out Amazon's headquarters 🪴, located in South Lake Union, Seattle. There are many of their buildings around, but the most noteworthy is definitely The Spheres' glass spheres 💚. The Spheres are three interconnected glass greenhouses 🌿, mimicking a tropical rainforest ecosystem, housing a variety of green plants and several tropical fish tanks. Inside, there are many plant warming lights and automatic sprinklers 🌳🌴🌱, maintaining a consistently moist and warm environment. The whole office space really gives you a feeling of being in nature 👍. It's a great office area with ample space, a cafe, meeting rooms, and more. Speaking of the cafe, there's one inside the glass spheres General Porpoise Doughnuts. I think the coffee is just okay, but their donuts are really delicious 🤤. No wonder many employees recommend them 👍. I tried the vanilla donut recommended by the staff 😆, filled with cream that's not too sweet, really tasty 🤤. By the way, before entering, you can get a free banana 🍌 from the camping car 🆓. Even if you're just passing by, you can grab one 🤣. I was brought in by an employee on a weekday, so no prior reservation was needed. But there are fixed public opening hours. The first and third Saturdays of each month (10 am - 6 pm) are free for public visits. You can make a reservation on the official website, usually about half a month in advance. Slots are released every 15 minutes starting from 10 am on Friday (100 spots available). Each visit is limited to one hour per person, so the latest reservation time is 5 pm. 🌿 The Spheres Nearby, there's a Japanese casual dining spot, Gyo Gyo En, quite suitable for lunch 😆. The curry rice 🍛 is a bit salty, but I think the sashimi rice is a good deal at $20 a portion, and it looks great. You can check it out when visiting the glass spheres 👌. 🐟 GYO GYO EN #Seattle #SeattleTravel #SpringTravelogue #SpringWanderingPlan #SpringFlowerGuide
