Seattle Day Hike|Ice Cave Adventure
This weekend, we visited the legendary Ice Cave —totally worth the early wake-up call! The hike itself is moderate : ~1.1 miles (1.8 km) one-way (~2.2 miles round trip), mostly flat *(...or so we thought)*. We took a detour that turned into a near-vertical goat trail , but the second ice cave made it all worthwhile! The trail winds through lush forests and creeks , with boardwalks and gravel sections—air so fresh it feels filtered. We even picnicked by the cave and waterfall. Pure bliss! 😎 💥 The Highlight? WILD BLUEBERRIES! We stumbled upon tiny wild blueberries along the trail—sweet, juicy, and FREE for picking! Eating them straight from the bushes was a core memory. 😂 🧊 The Ice Cave Delivered Majestic and icy-cool —standing at the entrance felt like natural AC . But DO NOT enter the cave (dripping water + melting ice = danger!). Admire safely from the wooden railings. 👟 Pro Tips - Wear grippy shoes (rocks + streams = no flip-flops!). - Pack snacks & water —post-hike creek-side munching is elite. - Blueberry season = July-August! ⚠️ SAFETY FIRST: - Never enter the cave (collapses have happened!). - $5/cash parking fee (free with Discover Pass). - Restrooms scarce —go at the visitor center first. - Layer up! 80°F (27°C) outside, ~50°F (10°C) near the cave. - No cell service —download maps offline or bring walkie-talkies. The perfect summer weekend escape! 💙 #IceCaveHike #SeattleHiking #WildBlueberries #DayTrip #GlacierViews #NatureTherapy #HikingWithDogs #UWLife #ExplorePNW
