Seattle Restaurant Exploration | French Bistro | L’Oursin | New Menu

✨I’ve been following this French bistro on Instagram for a long time, and seeing other people’s experiences seemed pretty good, so I gave it a try! Located in Capitol Hill, it’s a combination of a restaurant, bar, and wine shop. Managed to book a table for an hour later on a Sunday evening. Arrived at 6 PM and it was quite empty, but like Carrello, it started to fill up after 7 or 8 PM. 🔖Heard that their small plates are more outstanding, so I ordered four small dishes and one main course. The dishes were somewhat different from what I’ve seen in other reviews. St. Jacques 10🌟 Alaskan scallops My favorite dish of the night! The scallops were so sweet and clear, with a Japanese white vinegar flavor added to the oil infusion. It also blended well with chicken mushrooms & black trumpet mushrooms. The ham bits were the perfect touch, enhancing the flavor. Highly recommended! Escargots 8🌟 Baked snails The garlic and butter scented pesto with bread was delicious. The snails were quite plump. However, the flavor of each snail was not very consistent; some were too acidic, others too salty, a bit confusing. Terrine de Foie Gras 9🌟 I tried pâté at Beast & Clever last time and found it just okay. This time I tried the foie gras terrine. Loved it! The texture was dense with a faint aroma of wine. I really love this Brioche – soft and sweetly milky. My partner wasn’t a fan of the bread as it was too sweet, haha. The quince sauce was not astringent either. Lost a point because it can be a bit cloying if eaten too much without wine. Tartare de Boeuf 7🌟 A huge serving of hand-cut beef tartare. The shallot flavor was strong and it was a bit dry. The accompanying toast was decent. Le Cassoulet 9🌟 This dish has been changed; the fried potato chips I was looking forward to are gone. The base was replaced with beans, soft and flavorful, and the added crunch enhanced the taste. The confit duck leg was crispy on the outside but retained the right amount of fat. The meat inside was a bit dry, though. The sausage was average, a bit heavy on the spices. 🔖Didn’t order dessert because I wanted to try the ice shave. And a heads up for everyone, Kakigori. I tried the watermelon ice, which was made very slowly and wasn’t tasty. ✨A great place for a drink; I’d like to come back and try other seafood next time. 💁🏻Service 6 A 20% tip is mandatory, but the service was really quite average. Water refills and plate clearing were only done upon request. 🏠Ambiance 8 Very bar-like atmosphere. 💰Value for Money 7.5 Total for the above was $153, receipt in P8. Two people were very full and took the rest of the main course to go. The pricing is average for a Seattle bistro. #SeattleFood #FrenchCuisine #Seattle #SeattleFoodExploration #SeattleDaily #Tonightsdinner
