Seattle Surroundings | Big Four Ice Caves
👉 The road to the trailhead was already closed, so we had to walk 2 miles to get to the actual trailhead. The trail itself is 2.4 miles, so we ended up walking 6.8 miles and it took us 2 hours and 40 minutes. 👉 We went during the week of Christmas, and there was no ice or snow on the road to the trailhead. It seemed unnecessary to close the road; last year at this time, the road was covered in ice. 👉 The last part of the trail has icy surfaces. To get to the ice caves, you have to walk through thick snow. Having spikes makes it a lot easier, but they’re not essential. 👉 It was cloudy and raining when we went, but the scenery was still quite nice, with a very rugged feel. The views along the way were also beautiful. ❗️ Be sure to avoid entering the ice caves as there is a certain level of danger. The weather is changing rapidly, so it’s important to check the road conditions before you go. #Seattle #SeattleTravel #SeattleSurroundings #SeattleLife #SeattleWeekend #SeattleDayTrips #SeattleHiking #SeattleHikingTrails #SeattleOutdoors #SeattleLife #SeattleWeekend #SeattleDayTrips #BigFourIceCaves
