Seattle Western Restaurant Week trying Roman dishes at Rione XIII

I wanted to go to MariPili for Tapas, but my procrastination got the best of me and I couldn’t get a reservation. Decided to try this Italian restaurant under the ESR group. Overall, the flavors felt a bit average. The mandatory 22% service charge is quite annoying (though the service was good). It’s not necessary to come during restaurant week; the regular happy hour is a better deal. Appetizers: 🧀 Burrata Super smooth milk buns. Too bad the balsamic vinegar was a bit heavy and too acidic. Comes with roasted sweet pepper, cherry tomatoes, capers, and basil. The focaccia chips were so hard that each bite was a head-scratcher. 🍡 Suppli Bianco Fried risotto balls. The crispy exterior was delicious. It contains mozzarella, but the filling was a bit monotonous in flavor. Main Courses: 🍝 Bucatini all’Amatriciana A super classic Italian tomato and bacon pasta. The straw pasta absorbed more tomato sauce, so it was more acidic. A large portion, the noodles were chewy and sour at first, quite tasty. It got a bit boring towards the end, better for sharing with a group. 🥩 Hanger Steak The steak was not as well-cooked as the one I make at home in a water bath. And the coarse salt was not evenly distributed, making some bites too salty. Otherwise, the overall seasoning was quite light and refreshing. It came with green garlic and sweet onions, with a sweet and sour pickled scallion. Desserts: 🍮 Buttermilk Panna Cotta The buttermilk panna cotta had a delicate texture. Paired with sweet and sour strawberry rhubarb compote, it was quite delicious. 🍰 Tiramisu The tiramisu was not as good as the panna cotta. The texture was too wet, and the rum flavor was too strong. The almond cookies were also粘牙. A large jar, it got a bit cloying towards the end. #Seattle #SeattleSurroundings #SeattleRestaurantHunting #SeattleLife #SeattleFood #SeattleWeekend #SeattleDaily #SeattleDelicious #Seattle #TonightDinnerLooksLikeThis #SeattleItalianCuisine
