Self-Driving Day 6: Albany, the Capital of New York State

✨The highlight was the New York State Capitol Building, which took 32 years to construct and was completed in 1899. With a cost of $25 million at the time, it was even more expensive than the U.S. Capitol Building. 🥰Given the technology of the era, all the carvings were done entirely by hand. From a distance, the patterns may look similar, but upon closer inspection, each one is uniquely designed. The stone carvings include approximately 150 human faces, and there are 63 seats. ✨The golden wallpaper on the walls is made of pure gold. If you visit during the first half of the year when senators are working, you can even observe a session. ✔️The second highlight is the carousel on the fourth floor of the New York State Museum. With a history of 130 years, it features a traditional wooden horse music box. The horse tails are made of real horsehair, and the eyes are embedded colored glass balls. Each horse is meticulously hand-carved and painted, showcasing the exquisite craftsmanship of early carousels. Visitors can ride for free, reliving childhood joy while soaking in the nostalgic and retro atmosphere. 🩷Other activities: We also went to the top of the Corning Tower for a panoramic view of the city and even caught a glimpse of Montreal in the distance. Additionally, on weekdays at 1 PM, there is an Empire Plaza Tour in front of the Egg-shaped theater (The Egg), which includes a guided visit inside the theater. #Albany #NewYorkState#Albanyguide#traveldiary#SelfDriving#Albanydiary
