🌺🌿The Sento Imperial Palace actually consists of two parts: the Omiya Palace and the Sento Palace.🌺🌿 🌺🌿 The Omiya Palace is the residence of the Empress Dowager, 🌺🌿 🌺🌿built in 1867 on the site of the former Nyo-in Palace,🌺🌿 🌺🌿 and currently retains only the Jōgōden (the main hall).🌺🌿 🌺🌿 The main gate of the palace is used as the entrance for visitors. 🌺🌿 🌺🌿The Sento Palace serves as the residence for the retired Emperor (Joko), built in 1630.🌺🌿 🌺🌿 It has undergone three reconstructions due to fires, but after the last fire in 1854, 🌺🌿 🌺🌿when there was no Joko, the palace was left unrebuilt, and the site is now a pine forest.
