shaw center &leisure card

We got a leisure card through Open Door, which allows access to six fitness centers in Saskatoon (one is under renovation, so currently five). 🏖️🏖️ New members get the first year for free🛤️ ❄️Besides using the swimming pool, gym, indoor track, ice rink, and public yoga classes, we can also book basketball, soccer, and badminton courts, and each person can sign up for one paid course for free.☀️☀️ On Thursday, we went to play badminton with friends, and today we came to the Shaw Center to swim. 🏖️ This is currently the only pool in Saskatoon with lanes. Here’s a detailed guide:🌈 🐠 About the leisure pool area: Right after exiting the changing room is the leisure pool area, which has two pools, a water slide, a warm pool, and a hot pool.⏺️ 🐠 About the lap pool: Walk past the leisure pool area to find the lap pool. The leftmost section has diving boards, while the middle and right sections are lane-divided pools. 🐠 About lockers in the changing room:🏡🏡 - Some lockers have no built-in locks, so you’ll need to bring your own. - Others have built-in locks, which require a 50-cent coin from the front desk to use. - Or, if you’re not worried about theft, you can leave them unlocked 😂. If you choose the second type, it’s best to get the coin when you check in at the front desk. 🚖 A tip: Insert the coin only when you’re ready to lock up—they’re one-time use. Once you lock it and open it again, you’ll need a new coin. Don’t ask me how I know 😂. 🐠 About shoes: It’s best to leave outdoor shoes outside the changing room. Inside, people wear indoor sneakers, slippers, or go barefoot. I saw some people in sneakers in the pool area, but most go barefoot or wear slippers.🎈🎈 🐠 About swim caps: Swim caps and goggles aren’t required in the leisure pool—feel free to skip them. But in the lap pool, almost everyone wears both a swim cap and goggles.🎉 🐠 About swimwear: Most women wear one-piece or two-piece swimsuits; bikinis are less common. ✨✨Men usually wear board shorts in the leisure area and swim trunks in the lap pool. There seem to be no strict rules—overall, it’s pretty casual. 🐠 About food: I didn’t see anyone eating inside, but there are tables and chairs outside the changing rooms where you can eat. 🐠 About drinking water: There are water ⚠️fountains in the venue, or you can bring your own water. 🐠 About personal items: Most people store their things in lockers, but some bring backpacks in, and some even wear sneakers.👉👈 I think it’s fine as long as you don’t get things wet or dirty. 🐠 About showering: It seems they don’t encourage showering here. The showers are mainly for a quick rinse before swimming. There aren’t many shower stalls, and besides me, I didn’t see anyone else using them 😂. There are no toiletries provided, and the water is quite cold. ❄️❄️ Only a few shower stalls in the changing room have curtains; most don’t. 🐠 About swimming: There happened to be a kids’ competition at the venue today—no wonder the overall level seemed so high 😂. It was quite formal; apart from being a 25-meter pool, it was just like a regular competition, with the stands full of family 😃😃members cheering. The events included girls’ and boys’ 100m breaststroke, 200m butterfly, and a mixed-gender disabled swimming👀👀 event. #Scarborough
