Shiva’s: A Love Affair with Indian Cuisine
🌟I’ve been eating at Shiva’s so many times and still haven’t gotten tired of it. This Shiva’s is located in downtown Dallas, and now there’s also a branch in Allen at Watter Creek. This place completely won me over to Indian food. I used to not understand it, but now I’m pretty much integrated into my Indian colleagues’ circle, learning a bit about their culture. Interestingly, almost all of my non-Indian colleagues say it’s delicious, while all of my Indian colleagues think it’s just okay. 🌷But it’s really good! Here are some of the dishes: Samosa It’s essentially a large fried dumpling. It’s listed as an appetizer, but one piece can actually be quite filling. Personally, I’m just okay with samosas, but my Indian friends love them. 🎄Chicken 65 Ever since I tried this with my Indian bestie, I’ve ordered it every single time since—like, five or six times. It’s my go-to now, haha. I choose a spiciness level of 8/10, which is just right for me. The “65” refers to a specific marination method; you can look it up on Google. They also have Gobi 65, which is cauliflower, and I like that too. 🥂Tikki Masala This time I tried it—it’s a tomato-based curry sauce. It goes really well with rice, and if you order some garlic naan (Indian garlic bread), the joy of carbs just kicks in. 🍞Kheer For dessert, there’s rice pudding. Even as someone who’s not particularly into desserts, I enjoyed this a lot. Especially after eating a bunch of flavorful dishes, this one feels really refreshing. The spiciness level at their restaurant can be chosen on a scale of 1 to 10. You can also pick from a variety of main ingredients like chicken, lamb, beef, shrimp, or fish for the main dishes. In short, Shiva’s has been my favorite Indian restaurant for a year now. It really has something special. #FoodieLife
