Somni: Los Angeles Finally Has a Michelin Three-Star ✨

Somni is one of LA’s most creative and artistic newly crowned Michelin three-star restaurants. I couldn’t wait to try it — and it did not disappoint! 🎉 Guests are seated around the chef’s counter, where they can watch the entire cooking process unfold. The servers even participate in preparing dishes and interact with diners throughout the experience. Only 14 guests per night in the main dining area, plus a private room for 6. Reservations open one month in advance — plan ahead! 📅 The menu continues Chef Aitor Zabala’s vision of blending Spanish traditions with California’s local ingredients. Dishes change with the seasons — and in less than six months since reopening, half the menu has already been refreshed! 🍃 Starters & Bites 🧀 Parmesan Feather — An art-like crispy Parmesan “feather” filled with coffee-lemon cream. Light, salty, and fragrant. 🍃 Monstera — Potato crisps shaped like monstera leaves, filled with anchovy cream and Swiss cheese sauce. Savory, creamy, with a delicate oily aroma. Creative Main Courses 🐟 Dashi & Caviar — The star dish! A fish-shaped meringue made from 24-hour Japanese dashi, topped with smoked butter, seaweed powder, golden Osetra caviar, and a sprinkle of lemon and rosemary. A true umami bomb! 💥 🐠 Sardine — Salt-and-sugar-cured Japanese sardine served on a fish-shaped crisp with a cheesy finish. 🥩 Shiso Tartare — Japanese A5 wagyu wrapped like a flower bouquet in tempura. A feast for the senses! 🐟 Spanish Turbot — Dry-aged for 5 days, then steamed and grilled, served with red pepper sauce and smoked fish bone broth. Rich Mediterranean flavors. Desserts 🐄 Cow & Her Milk — A cow-shaped cookie hiding French cream cheese, paired with vanilla apple purée and roasted hazelnuts. Sweet, salty, divine. 🍍 Piña Colada — Coconut cream foam over fermented pineapple juice and caramel, with a hint of rum. 🍬 Sweet Little Things — Chocolate-shell madeleines, jam-filled donuts, and semi-dehydrated berry fudge.
