๐จ Spanish Village Art Center โ My Happy Place in San Diego! ๐โจ
This might be one of my favorite spots in San Diego besides the beaches โ and Iโve been here twice! Located in Balboa Park, itโs super photogenic, but thatโs not why I love it. No one can resist the colorful tiles ๐งฑ, uniquely designed studios, and artists casually displaying their handmade ceramics, jewelry, and paintings along the pathways โ no pressure, just pure creativity shining quietly โจ. I first visited in January, and returned in April to treat myself ๐. I pre-ordered earrings from two artists and had them shipped. This time, I got to meet them in person! One is a leather artist with a distinct Mexican-inspired style ๐๐งต, though she also makes delicate designs. Sheโs currently working on a zodiac-themed jewelry collection! I bought the earrings in P9, and she even prepared a gift for me (P10) ๐ฅน. When I left on the 16th, I was too shy to say much โ just that I might return next year and that I truly admire her work. We ended with a hug ๐ค. I also scheduled a meeting with another jeweler on the 20th โ excited to see how that goes! This time, I explored more studios and collected a whole handful of business cards ๐. One artist friend even inspired me to appreciate small paintings โ the Art Center has so many unbelievably beautiful artworks ๐ผ๏ธ. My favorite is the artist behind P8 โ her whimsical, imaginative pieces (like animals doing human activities!) totally captivated me. I could only afford a print though โ originals are way beyond my budget ๐จ๐ธ. At Studio 37, a lovely enthusiastic grandma crafts gemstone jewelry ๐. I was in a hurry to meet someone, so I quickly bought a beautiful branch-shaped earring. There was so much more to see: bold glass earrings, iron jewelry, ceramic decor, and even live glassblowing! Iโm planning to order a vase someday as a gift for a friend ๐ซ๐. The only downside? My wallet is definitely not as excited to come here as I am ๐ ๐ธ. #SpanishVillage #BalboaPark #SanDiegoArt #HandmadeJewelry #LocalArtists #TravelSanDiego #ArtLovers
