Spokane β The City with a Waterfall at Its Heart π
Spokane is a city in eastern Washington State, serving as the second-largest city in Washington and the third-largest in the Pacific Northwest. With a population of 208,916 according to the 2010 U.S. Census, it ranks as the 103rd largest city in the nation. Together with Spokane Valley and Coeur d'Alene in Idaho, it forms a vibrant metropolitan area. Located about four hours from Seattle and over seven hours from Yellowstone National Park, Spokane was our first stop on the road to Yellowstone ππ¨. Why? Because itβs one of the only two larger cities along the route β making it easier to find comfortable hotels and stock up on supplies. The other city, Missoula (four hours from Yellowstone and seven from Seattle), became our stop on the return trip. I hadnβt done much research before visiting Spokane, but I was pleasantly surprised by its beauty β¨. The city is filled with charming, historic architecture, and if you have time, there are many stunning churches to explore βͺ. But the real highlight? A massive waterfall right in the city center! The falls span a wide area, connected by over a dozen large pedestrian bridges crossing different sections. Walking across those bridges with the roar of the waterfall below was an unforgettable experience ππ¦. On the other side of the falls lies a large central plaza with a big play area for kids β perfect for combining sightseeing with family fun! π§π§ Unexpected Little Moments: 1οΈβ£ On one of the bridges, I noticed countless wish locks π attached to the railings β a beautiful, universal way for people everywhere to express their hopes. 2οΈβ£ I nearly stepped on a small snake π curled up in the middle of the path in the dim evening light β a harmless but surprising encounter! 3οΈβ£ At dusk, a huge moon π rose through the pine trees β and I captured a photo Iβll always treasure. #Spokane #Washington #CityWithAFalls #TravelUSA
