Spring Break in Colorado Springs ποΈπΈ
Finally getting around to sharing my spring break trip from early April β no fluff, just the highlights! 1οΈβ£ Pikes Peak Cog Railway π Book tickets online in advance. As recommended, we got Seat A in the first car β the views are indeed the best! Weather is key βοΈβοΈ: If itβs bad, the train might not go all the way to the summit. We were lucky β sunny and warm, but still freezing at the top! π₯Ά Kids refused to stay outside. The summit has a small museum and cafΓ© ποΈβ. You get about 30 minutes up there. Round trip: 3 hours. We booked the 12 PM slot β no rush in the morning, and time to explore the town afterward. Pro tip: Park in Manitou Springs (cheap!) and take the free shuttle to the train. Frequent buses β super convenient! The town itself is cute with plenty to eat and drink π¦ποΈ. 2οΈβ£ Manitou Incline πβ°οΈ Right across from the train station β known as the βDevilβs Staircase.β Short but steep β a brutal climb π₯΅! Good trail conditions, but the incline gets intense. Know your limits! 3οΈβ£ Garden of the Gods π A must for rock lovers and kids who love to climb! Park at the main lot β you can walk to most highlights from there πΆββοΈπ. Well-maintained paths and facilities. Donβt miss Balanced Rock β drive there for a quick photo op πΈ! 4οΈβ£ Manitou Cliff Dwellings ποΈ Ancient Pueblo ruins β interesting if you have time. Can be done in about an hour β³. 5οΈβ£ Seven Falls π¦ποΈ Park at the designated lot (free!) and take a shuttle to the entrance. Walk to the base of the falls, then climb the stairway alongside the waterfalls πͺ. Alternatively, take an elevator to the top for a full view. During spring break, the last section was closed β hopefully fully open in summer! 6οΈβ£ Cheyenne Mountain Zoo π¦π Heard itβs amazing β but we ran out of time. Next trip! #FamilyTravel #VisitDenver #ColoradoTravel #SpringBreak #TravelWithKids
