📍 Location: Situated in Bentota, Sri Lanka. 🔴 Historical Background: After Ceylon gained independence in 1948, Bawa returned to his homeland to inherit his family's estate. He purchased an abandoned rubber plantation near his family's property and spent decades transforming it into the Lunuganga Estate. ✨Design Philosophy 🌈Integration of Space and Nature: Bawa referred to it as a "garden within a garden." He created a personal garden within the larger landscape of lakes and hills, blurring the boundaries between indoor and outdoor spaces and allowing architecture and nature to intermingle. 🥰Cultural Fusion: The estate combines local aesthetics with European modernist forms and qualities, showcasing a diverse architectural approach. Estate Layout and Facilities ❤️Entrance and Courtyard: The entrance features a bell that visitors must ring to gain access. The entrance courtyard replaces a traditional driveway and is hidden within a grove of trees in the southeast corner.
