Sri Lanka | Trincomalee - Sigiriya

Today's itinerary: Uga Jungle Beach (hotel) - Trincomalee town (20-minute drive) - Sigiriya hotel (2.5-hour drive) - Sigiriya Rock sunset (10-minute drive)🍚 🍏🍏Hotel in Trincomalee: Uga Jungle Beach. The hotel is about 21 kilometers away from the town, making it a quiet and secluded place. 🥐 🥑The beach has soft, fine sand, and there's a romantic beachfront bonfire BBQ in the evening. Some room types have direct access to the beach, like a budget version of Maldivian beach bungalows. 🍧The overall stay experience is great, with mostly European and American families. There are no restaurants or bars within a few kilometers around; the hotel is tucked away in the jungle, a sudden turn off the highway, like an isolated island in a food desert. 👀 🎋The hotel is full of ceremonial touches – upon arrival, the warm reception staff will immediately give you a bark-made note to write down your wish, which you can hang on the hotel's wish tree with your own hands.🙉 Normally, this season would be ideal for whale watching or snorkeling at Pigeon Island, but we chose to sleep in until natural waking.👀 💞💞 We asked the driver to take us to the beach in town, where we drank, ate meat, and (completely lazed around). The café here called Café on the 18th serves both food and drinks, and there are many other shops around for entertainment. 💞💞 ✨✨The waves are big, the coastline is long, and it's quite a popular and photo-worthy restaurant here – the food was the most delicious we've had in the past two days.🏡 ⚠️We set off for Sigiriya at 2 PM, first dropping off our luggage at the hotel, then the driver rushed us to the ticket office before it closed at 4:30 PM. The ticket costs 35 USD, and you can reach the top within 30 minutes.🌈 💧💧The feeling after reaching the top is truly amazing – after all, this is the same view the king once had. The wind is strong up there, and during the climb, there was a slight tingle of nervousness because the wind was so strong that I kept feeling like a swaying wine glass. ☄️ After wandering around and taking photos, you'll notice many people from all over the world sitting on the rock top watching the sunset.☀️ The stunning king-worthy sunset really feels a bit different from regular sunsets – it's truly worth it.🌌 🌙Tonight we're staying at Hotel Sigiriya. I had been wanting to book the Heritance Kandalama, but since there were no rooms available, I chose this one. After checking in, I found this hotel is really a hidden gem. It costs 800 RMB, includes breakfast and dinner, and is a 5-minute walk from the town, making it super convenient for drinking, coffee, and dining. 🎇 What's more, the hotel pool has a direct view of Sigiriya Rock – perfect for photos.🖼️🖼️ No bad spots today; everything was arranged perfectly. Celebrating with drinks tonight.🌙 #travel #LesserKnownCountries #LesserKnownTravelExperiences #GodsTribe #SlowTravelTheWorld
