Many people will tell you to go island hopping in Split, but no one mentions that it’s a 9-hour marathon—6 hours on a boat 🚤, and 2 hours (or more!) stuck on Hvar Island! Let’s be real: The main reason for island hopping is to see the Blue Cave. But you won’t know if it’s open until you’re already at sea 🌊. And even if it is open, you’ll end up waiting in line for 2 hours 😤. So… why not just go directly to Hvar Island? 🏝️ Hvar is what made Split truly memorable for me—crystal-clear turquoise water 💙, mysterious narrow alleyways, art galleries I was too intimidated to enter 🖼️, and people simply enjoying life. And then there was that café sofa I collapsed into and instantly fell asleep on 😴, while the Mediterranean glowed outside 🌅, and the waves crashed gently in the background. Transportation: From Split, you can book tickets online (Google "Split Hvar Ferry") or buy them directly at the harbor 🎫. Plenty of options and flexible schedules! Compared to island hopping, the round trip to Hvar takes only 2 hours and costs €25—way better value! 💯 What to Do on Hvar: Just get lost wandering—climb the stairs, and you’ll find hiking trails 🥾. A sign says "10 min to the top," and it’s actually true! There are two paths: one leads left to the ancient city walls (requires a ticket 🎫), so we went right instead. There are many spots to swim—just open Google Maps and search "Beach" 🏖️. Other Random Thoughts About Split: 1️⃣ The old town is packed with people—like visiting Lingyin Temple during Chinese New Year 🧨. 2️⃣ There’s no iconic "city cover photo" spot—no real aha! moment 📸. 3️⃣ It’s not exactly a "chill and relax" destination—it’s more of a port city 🚢.
