🦆 Strolling through the Halifax Public Gardens 🌲💤
The Halifax Public Gardens is a Victorian-era public garden located in Halifax, Nova Scotia, established in 1867, the same year as the founding of the Canadian Confederation. 🌼📸 🌟🌟It is situated on the Halifax Peninsula and was designated a National Historic Site of Canada in 1984.🦆 Covering 16 acres, the gardens are open annually from approximately May 1st to November 1st. 🖼️🏭 The landscape style is Victorian, featuring statues, expansive flower beds, 🌟 🔄💫 three fountains, two stone bridges, three ponds, and a bandstand that hosts free public concerts on Sunday afternoons during the summer. 🌅 Annual Canada Day celebrations are held in the gardens. 💸💎 In the past, many people enjoyed feeding the ducks that made the gardens their home, but this is now prohibited. 🦆🦆 The gardens were severely damaged by Hurricane Juan in 2003, with many trees destroyed, leading to the gardens' closure and redesign. 🌅 The gardens reopened on Canada Day in 2004. ☀️ Fortunately, some old trees survived the hurricane, including an American elm dating back to the 1860s. #CanadaHalifax #Halifax #Park
