Summer Hike in Southern California: A Refreshing (But Faded) Memory
This hike in the San Gabriel Mountains was around May—scorching hot outside 🔥, but the river’s water was ice-cold ❄️. It was a short trek, but it’s still one of my all-time favorites because of that water 💦. Sadly, wildfires forced the area to close 🔥🚫, and I’m still bummed about it. (Seriously, Mother Nature, give us a break! 😅) The vibe: 🌿 Heatwave vs. River Chill: The contrast was wild—sweating through your shirt one minute, dipping your toes in glacial water the next. 📸 Photo-Op Alert: Crystal-clear streams, mossy rocks, and lush greenery = Instagram gold. 🐾 Wildlife Sightings: Spotted a deer 🦌 and a family of quails 🐥 mid-hike. Why it’s unforgettable: Even though it was brief, the rush of jumping into that river after a sweaty climb? Pure bliss. 😌 Now, the trail’s closure feels like losing an old friend. 💔 Pro tip for future hikers: If the area ever reopens 🤞, GO EARLY. Parking fills up fast, and the crowds can ruin the serenity. 🚗💨 #SouthernCaliforniaHikes #SanGabrielMountains #RiverTrails 🌊🥾
