Swiss Basel Japanese Cuisine Recommendation | Honest and Reliable
I heard there are quite a few Japanese people in Basel, so I decided to try the Japanese food here. It's honest and reliable—definitely worth it! 📍 Miake Izakaya Basel 1⃣️ Snacks - Takoyaki (Octopus Balls) 🍖 - Agedashi Tofu (Japanese Fried Tofu) 🍯 - Tori No Teriyaki (Grilled Chicken) 🍖 2⃣️ Main Courses - Gyudon (Beef Bowl) 🍱 The rice comes with shredded ginger, but the onion flavor can overpower it. If you don't like ginger, it's not a big issue. - Katsu Kare (Curry Fried Pork Cutlet Rice) 🍖 The red bits are pickled radish. Make sure to mix everything well—it prevents the dish from being too greasy. If you run out of curry sauce, you can ask the waiter for a small extra portion. Note: The meal does not come with miso soup, so if you want soup, you'll need to order it separately. 3⃣️ Drinks - Barley Tea 🍵 The tea is served by the pot, and it's so refreshing! The staff are very friendly. They bring you a hot towel to wipe your hands as soon as you sit down. It's best to make a reservation in advance. You can choose to sit at the bar, on tatami mats, or at a regular table. The Sukiyaki hot pot looks really good too. It's 52 CHF per person, but it's only available for parties of at least two. I'll definitely try it next time! It's very convenient—it's just a three- to four-minute walk from Basel train station. #JapaneseFoodie #SwissTravel
