Tōdai-ji Temple and Sanjūsangen-dō Hall(2)
✅ Kyoto - Senju Kannon-do (Sanjūsangen-dō): The World's Longest Single Wooden Buddhist Hall ⏰ Visiting Hours: April 1 to November 15: 8:30–17:00 November 16 to March 31: 9:00–16:00 🎫 Admission: 600 yen 📝 The official name is Senju Kannon-do, an ancient temple of the Tendai sect. 🎢🍃 The main hall, rebuilt in the Kamakura period, is a long hall stretching approximately 120 meters north to south. Inside, it houses 1,001 statues of Kannon, which are designated as national treasures. 🎢🍃 Because the inner sanctuary has 33 inter-columnar spaces, it is commonly known as "Sanjūsangen-dō." Additionally, the temple grounds feature a pond and strolling garden renovated in 2021, a south gate established in the Momoyama period, and the Taiko Wall, all of which are designated as important cultural properties. (North-south: 120m) ♻️ Wooden architecture primarily uses natural timber as its main material, combining environmental friendliness (renewable and low-carbon) with seismic resistance (flexible structures to reduce vibrations). Traditional mortise-and-tenon joinery securely connects components without nails, showcasing exquisite craftsmanship. 🎢🍃Modern engineering integrates glulam technology to achieve large-span spaces (such as the Expo wooden ring corridor). The warm texture and natural grain of wood endow architecture with unique aesthetics, blending humanity and technology from ancient temples to contemporary landmarks. #ArchitecturalArt #SustainableDesign 🌇🌟
