It's Not Unthinkable to Build a Museum for a Novel (1) 📚 🌇 The Tale of Genji Museum in Uji City 🌸 Almost all travel guides tell you that if you're short on time or not interested in Japanese literature, you can skip this attraction. 🌇 But actually, this was the most interesting place I visited in Uji (Byōdō-in is also beautiful, but I went there more for a Sekiro pilgrimage [cool R]). 🌿 The museum isn't big and isn't located in the main tourist area. It's more like a quaint little box-shaped hall built in a residential neighborhood. 🏡 📚 But these Japanese box halls are really exquisite. 🌇 Although it wasn't cherry blossom season, I could already imagine the beautiful scenery when the flowers bloom just by looking at the courtyard landscape. 🌸 Of course, the pleasant surprise was how the museum organized, displayed, and deeply explored The Tale of Genji, especially the last ten chapters set in Uji. 📚 I was really impressed by how Japan can make such profound use of its limited cultural resources. 🌟 #Kyoto 🌇
