๐ฒ TC Banquet | Pepper Pork Belly & Chicken Pot
Last week was so chilly and rainy, we headed straight to TC Banquet in Temple City to warm up. We ordered the Pepper Pork Belle & Chicken Pot (small โ $69) and were shocked by the portion โ easily enough for four people! ๐ฒ Pepper Pork Belly Chicken Pot โ Huge but Mild Packed with ingredients: half a chicken, pork belly, napa cabbage, tofu skin, abalone, enoki mushrooms, beef balls, and noodles. Insane value! But the broth was on the lighter side, and the pepper flavor wasnโt very strong. ๐ If youโre like me and love that pepper kick, ask for extra ground pepper to adjust to your taste. Still, a steaming hot pot on a rainy day? Pure comfort. ๐ Off-Menu: Claypot Rice with Cured Meat โ Cooked Tableside, But Not Quite Cantonese ๐ As soon as I heard โoff-menu claypot rice,โ I had to try! Itโs cooked right by your table for 18 minutes โ watching it bubble is quite the experience. But from a Cantonese perspective, itโs more of a fusion version: Added enoki mushrooms (not typical in Cantonese style) Too many greens gave the rice a slightly โgrassyโ taste Not enough crispy rice crust โ I wanted to cook it longer, but the staff worried it would burn Still, some positives: โ Made with Japanese rice โ great texture โ Rice absorbed the cured meat flavors โ very fragrant โ Cooked fresh, not pre-made โ big plus! ๐ฐ Pricing Many stir-fry dishes start at $9.99 Spend $100+ and get Dongpo pork for just $1 Overall, very affordable and great for the budget-conscious. ๐ Final Thoughts (From a Cantonese Diner) If youโre looking for authentic Cantonese-style claypot rice or pepper chicken soup, this might not match the taste you remember. But if youโre open to a modern twist, love big portions, and want great value just to enjoy a warm, hearty meal โก๏ธ Add this spot to your winter dining list. #TCBanquet #ClaypotRice #PorkBellyChickenPot #LAEats #ComfortFood #CantoneseFusion
