🚗 Tesla Road Trip Day 20|Impressions of Memphis 🎵
Memphis is known as the music capital of America — the birthplace of Blues and home to rock ‘n’ roll legend Elvis Presley in the 50s and 60s. For music lovers, it’s a place of pilgrimage. 🎸✨ We visited the famous Sun Studio — where Elvis recorded “That’s All Right,” Johnny Cash laid down “I Walk the Line,” and Jerry Lee Lewis brought “Great Balls of Fire” to life. Countless artists have come here hoping some of that magic would rub off. Funny enough, this legendary spot is just a small corner shop — less noticeable than the Domino’s Pizza across the street! 🎤😄 But downtown Memphis felt... rough. The architecture is grand — like the courthouse built in the 1900s — but the streets were mostly empty except for a few unhoused people. Many buildings were boarded up with plywood, giving parts of the city an abandoned feel. 🏢🚧 We didn’t stay long downtown — drove through pretty quickly. Asked ChatGPT later and learned that many wealthy residents have moved to East Memphis. We checked it out, and wow — beautiful single-family homes with lawns so perfect you could play golf on them! ⛳🏡 The Memphis Botanic Garden is located there too — such a peaceful and well-kept place. It was hard to believe it was just 15 minutes away from the downtown we’d just seen. The last few photos are from the garden. I didn’t snap pics of the neighborhoods, but imagine classic upper-class American suburbs — that’s East Memphis. #SoloTravel #USARoadTrip #Memphis #MusicCity #TeslaAdventure #TravelUSA #RoadTripVibes 🚙🌎
