Elegant in their black-and-white “tuxedos,” penguins may be some of the most adorably clumsy animals on land... But once they plunge in the water, their streamlined bodies make them true “torpedoes,” zipping through with their cute beaks and flippers. If you’re captivated by these charming creatures, you won’t want to miss a visit to the Aquarium of the Pacific, which this week welcomed a new member to its marine family. Rosie, a four-year-old Magellanic penguin, is described as *“quiet, curious, and playful”* in the organization’s latest press release. Rosie came from an Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) accredited facility, as the Aquarium of the Pacific participates in the AZA Species Survival Program (SSP) for Magellanic penguins. She’s being fed restaurant-quality food by the Aquarium’s animal care staff, including capelin, squid, and her current favorite: herring.
