The Best Hunan Cuisine in San Diego|Jia Xiang Wei is Amazing!
Today, I planned to go to Old Town for the Day of the Dead event, so I stopped by Jia Xiang Wei for lunch first. This restaurant is really popular—it opens at 11 a.m., and by noon, it was completely packed! 😊 Through the open kitchen, you can see the chefs stir-frying and tossing woks with great skill, filling the air with that delicious "wok hei" aroma. 👨🍳🔥 What’s more, the dishes come out really quickly, so you don’t have to wait long to eat. How considerate! 👍 If you prefer staying home, you can also order their food through the Fantuan delivery app, which is super convenient. 📱 We ordered a few signature dishes, and each one was delicious. First, the Perilla with Bullfrog—it’s been a while since I had bullfrog, and this one was incredibly tender with a springy texture, complemented by the fragrant perilla leaves. 🐸💚 Next, the Diced Pork Knuckle with Green Peppers—this dish was a personal favorite! The pork knuckle was stewed until tender, then stir-fried over high heat with green peppers. The skin still had a nice chewiness, and the flavor was mildly spicy and numbing, perfect with rice. 🐷🌶 Then there was the Mashed Eggplant with Chili and Century Egg, a classic Hunan dish. At other places, I’ve had to mash it myself, but here, the staff mashed it right at the table for us—so much easier! 😄🍆 Overall, it was a very satisfying meal. Every dish was unique and full of authentic flavor. If you enjoy Hunan cuisine or want to try something spicy and aromatic, Jia Xiang Wei is definitely a great choice. 💯 The prices are reasonable, and the service is attentive—highly recommended! 👏 #SanDiegoFood #HunanCuisine #JiaXiangWei #FoodReview #DeliveryRecommendation #FoodDiary #ChineseRestaurant
