The biggest drawback of Egyptian cuisine
🍲The biggest issue is that the service is really, really slow. Of course, the reason might be that they use real ingredients with no pre-made dishes or artificial additives.🍞 The first three restaurants are truly cheap, delicious, and serve huge portions – I highly recommend them!🍐 Sharm El Sheikh Fish Club Sharm is a sushi and seafood spot. The sushi is decent – we ordered California rolls with huge pieces of salmon.🍇 The seafood rice with extra toppings is incredibly delicious, and it’s only 320 EGP. We also tried the shrimp pasta, which was just okay, but it had a rich cheese flavor. This seafood restaurant offers great value for money, and not many people talk about it – it’s not crowded, so go check it out!🍧 Luxor Loqma Restaurant is a meat-focused spot. One mixed platter was enough to fill me up.🌶️🌶️ The food is tasty, and the fries are crispy. It’s the best value and cheapest place I ate in Luxor – I forgot the exact price, but it was really cheap (sorry for the vague description!).🧀 Golden Mug in Luxor – I want kidnap the grandpa who runs this place! The desserts are amazing, super cheap (30-40 EGP per serving… the priciest ones are only 70-80 EGP). Everything is made fresh on-site, with a smooth, delicate texture, and they’re not too sweet. I really regret not eating here more.🍗 🍫Snobs Restaurant in Luxor – this platter gets a lot of hype, but it’s terrible. It went up in price from 700 to 900 EGP, and half of it is just sauce – bad sauce, at that. The meat is mediocre too. The only good thing is that it looks nice in photos.🏙️🏙️ El-Kababgy Luxor is a restaurant on the banks of the Nile. I recommend going during the day to enjoy the Nile views.🍸 It serves standard Egyptian dishes, mostly meat. The day I went, the weather was great with a light breeze, so I was in a good mood. But avoid their oriental dessert – it’s like an overly sweet version of shaqiama (a fried dough snack).🍋 Aswan Old Cataract Hotel – we ordered grilled chicken, smoked salmon, two juices, an appetizer, and two desserts, totaling 4150 EGP. 🍺 It was our most expensive meal, but for a five-star hotel, it’s quite cheap. The food was just okay – none of us liked the smoked salmon. The desserts were good, though; the cheesecake was nice, and my friend’s raspberry ice cream🍦🍦 was delicious. Cairo About El Sid Restaurant is fantastic. Located in Zamalek, I loved the decor – very “1001 Nights” vibes. 🍛 The juices are good, and they serve traditional Egyptian dishes with large portions at low prices. They put the bill in a box for us to open when paying, which felt quite ceremonial.🍉 La Terrace is a Western restaurant in the President Hotel. This was where it all began – my first meal in Egypt, and it’s where I learned just how slow Egyptian service can be.🍡 The restaurant is nice,👍👍 but the sun through the floor-to-ceiling windows is too harsh during the day. It’s the first Western restaurant where I’ve had a good hamburger. #Cairo #Egypt #Restaurants
