The Biggest Issue with Traveling in Los Angeles 🚗💨
There’s no sugarcoating it: when you travel in LA, you’ll spend a huge chunk of your day inside a car. The city’s attractions are extremely spread out, and public transportation is far from sufficient. Urban sprawl is real here—everything feels miles apart.😁 A 30-minute Uber ride is totally normal here, while the same trip by public transit could take close to two hours. 😮 Even a simple taxi from the airport to downtown can cost around $70. It’s a stark contrast to cities like New York, where the subway system connects almost everything and most attractions are concentrated in Manhattan. Here, without a car or a generous ride budget, exploring becomes a challenge.🤣 I felt lucky that my trip was partly work-related—my company covered Uber costs through an EA account. Only one Saturday was personal, so I got a small taste of what visitors face when paying out of pocket. Without that support, transportation costs would’ve been overwhelming. It’s no surprise that LA often gets labeled as having some of the “worst urban planning” and “most extreme urban sprawl” in the world. If you’re planning a trip here, be prepared—budget extra time and money for getting around. #LosAngeles #LATravel #UrbanSprawl #PublicTransport #TravelProblems #CityPlanning #TravelTips #LALife 🚦🌆
