The de Young Museum Is Hosting An After-Hours Party With Art, Film, And Music This Week

The de Young museum is home to some incredible art, featuring permanent installations and numerous prestigious temporary exhibitions spanning various periods and media. While the museum is often busiest during the day, especially on weekends, it occasionally opens its doors for a rare late-night event . The museum typically hosts a party once a year after its annual fundraising Gala. This year, it has decided to add a new nighttime event this week. *Late Night Editions: Isaac Julien* features the work of filmmaker Isaac Julien, who created immersive video installations. His work is currently on view in the Wilsey Court in the de Young, one of the public areas in the museum. On Thursday, June 12, the museum will be open after hours, from 6 to 9:30 pm , featuring cocktails, food from Off The Grid Food Trucks, and music. If you typically can’t make it to the de Young during the weekdays, this is a wonderful way to see the museum in a new light. The main event area will feature the Isaac Julien installation, where guests can enjoy the music, a photo station, and refreshments. Plus, you can explore the fascinating exhibition *Paul McCartney Photographs 1963–64: Eyes of the Storm* that features photos taken by Paul McCartney during the Beatles’ whirlwind tour between 1963-1964. The exhibition has been overwhelmingly popular, causing the museum to extend its run until October 2025.
