The French-Style Town of Cienfuegos 🏟😆

Cienfuegos was once Spanish territory, but it was the French who first settled here, giving rise to its renowned French architectural style. Like Havana and Trinidad, it has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. But, shh... personally, I prefer the Spanish vibe over the French one. 🤫💃 👀 What to Do🐾🤷 The heart of the city is Jose Martti Square. From there, stroll along the seaside promenade towards the La Punta peninsula, and you can cover the main sights in half a day—it's even smaller than Santa Clara! 📍 Plaza Jose Marti : Nearby, there's an art gallery called Palacio Ferrer where you can climb the tower for a panoramic view .🌸 📍 La Punta : Many recommend it as a prime spot to watch the sunset . 🥳🎉 However, it's quite a distance from the city center (>30 min walk), and the path is rather deserted. Plus, I visited during a power outage, so I didn't want to risk walking back in the dark and headed back before sunset. But don't worry, the seaside promenade offers equally stunning sunset views. 🍚 What to Eat Prices here are even higher than in Havana! Lobster costs over 3000+ Pesos. The highly recommended seaside restaurant Villa Maria didn't have lobster, and many dishes were unavailable due to ingredient shortages. The beef was tough, but the seasoning was decent. 🏠 Where to Stay🎈🥳 I stayed at San Fernando, Ave 54 number 4121 between 41 and 43. The address listed on Airbnb isn't accurate, so use mine instead. For just ¥42, I got a private room with AC and an en-suite bathroom—what a steal! Although there was a power outage all night, it wasn't the host's fault. ⭐ During the power outage, lying in my accommodation, I could still hear music wafting in from outside. On my way back, I saw people dancing. It reminded me of my time in Africa. Happiness, perhaps, is a skill rather than a material condition.🤷😕 ⚠️ Travel Tip: It makes sense to combine Cienfuegos and Trinidad in one day, as many online Cuban itineraries suggest. If you have a private car, you could even throw Santa Clara into the mix. Spending a whole day here can feel... a bit lengthy. 😴 #Cienfuegos #Cuba #FrenchCharm
