The Golden City of Jaisalmer Fort
The castle's streets are narrow and winding, its corridors like secret tunnels. The staircases are steep, with some sections featuring iron grates that offer glimpses into the underground passages below. The rooms have been modernized for comfort, but gazing out the window at night reveals a mesmerizing sight—the city beyond the castle twinkles with countless lights, though no stars are visible in the dark sky. 🌅 Sunset at Jaisalmer Fort The next evening, we visited an ancient cannon post atop the fort, perched at a commanding height overlooking the entire Golden City. At dusk, as the sun dipped below the horizon, the city truly lived up to its name. The soft golden light bathed the sandstone structures, transforming them into a radiant amber hue—a spectacle only possible during sunset. 🏰 A Living Heritage Site Within the towering, majestic walls of the fort lies a self-contained world—palaces, temples, and bustling markets coexist, showcasing the evolution of Indian architecture from the medieval to late medieval periods. This living fortress serves as an invaluable resource for studying Indian history, culture, architecture, art, anthropology, and historical geography. #Jaisalmer#Jaisalmer Fort#india#travel guide#trip diary#India guide#India trip
