The Huntington is undoubtedly a hidden gem in Pasadena! ❤️
It’s a comprehensive art park that combines a desert garden, an art museum, botanical gardens, a Chinese garden, a Japanese garden, a rose garden, and more. Highly recommended! 👍 The early 20th-century tycoon and "railroad magnate" Henry Huntington was passionate about collecting rare books, ancient manuscripts, artworks, and more. This art institution houses an extensive collection of treasures—unfortunately, I don’t know what came over me that I didn’t take photos of the ancient texts 📚✨, which even include early Shakespeare manuscripts! “Strolling through fragrance and elegance…” My favorite is the Liu Fang Yuan (Garden of Flowing Fragrance), the largest classical Chinese garden in North America. Even the Taihu rocks were shipped from China—amounting to 850 tons! 🏞️🇨🇳 The garden’s design draws inspiration from the Yuanye (The Craft of Gardens) and Yingzao Fayuan (Classic Construction Methods), offering ever-changing views with every step. It truly serves as a beautiful window into Chinese culture. There’s also a serene Japanese garden featuring a traditional Edo-period farmhouse that was carefully disassembled in Japan, shipped overseas, and reconstructed here at a cost of over $10 million. 🏮🎎 #UrbanHiddenGem #LA #LosAngeles #Pasadena #DailyLife #California #Travel #CheckIn #Explore #ArtLovers #BotanicalGarden #ChineseGarden #JapaneseGarden #CultureTrip #History #Architecture #GardensOfTheWorld #MustVisit #SoCalAttractions
