The Majestic Nio Mon, Rengeo-in Temple in Kyoto 🌸🌺
☘️ Even before reaching Rengeo-in Temple after getting off the bus, I caught a glimpse of the imposing main gate, known as the Nio Mon, from afar. ☘️ The Nio Mon, donated by Tokugawa Iemitsu, stands at 18.7 meters tall and is built facing the street. It is one of the "Three Great Gates" of Kyoto. 🌿🍃 The massive wooden pillars, five bays and three sections, the towering layers of dougong (bracket sets), and the double-eaved hip-and-gable roof are all striking features. Inside the gate, there are wooden statues standing on either side. 🏯🌳 🌿🍃 #RegionalArchitecturalCulture #WorldCulturalHeritage #OffTheBeatenPath #AncientArchitecture #Rengeoin #NioMon #Kyoto #KyotoTravel #JapanTravelGuide #KyotoTourism 🏮🌏
