The most worthwhile place to visit in Boston 15/100

📍 Address: 306 Harvard St, Brookline, MA 02446 This Japanese supermarket is my most frequently visited Asian grocery store—even more than Korean or Chinese markets! 🛍️ Its selection is incredibly diverse and high-quality, with much more reasonable prices than many Korean supermarkets (plus, their bags have handles! 😆). From fresh produce, snacks, and seasonings to daily necessities and cosmetics, they have everything you need. When you spend over $100, the staff will give you a ticket for a free drink at Maruichi Select across the street—though they sometimes forget to hand it out! 🧃 The shop opposite offers casual meals like seafood rice, fruit sandwiches, and pork cutlet bowls, and also sells daily goods and snacks. It feels more like a cozy café! ☕ My most frequent purchase here is Wagyu beef 🥩—perfect for sukiyaki or beef rice bowls. Though a bit pricey, it’s often available at a 25% discount, making it a great deal. You can find all the ingredients for sukiyaki in one go: sukiyaki sauce, konnyaku noodles, shimeji mushrooms, and fried tofu. I always grab some udon noodles too—there’s nothing better than udon coated in rich sukiyaki broth and dipped in raw egg! 🍜🥚 Lately, I’ve also been making salmon and beef ochazuke (tea poured over rice). It does take some effort to make the broth from scratch, but Maruichi’s high-quality kombu and bonito flakes make it totally worth it! 🍵🍚 As for snacks, I always pick up plain daifuku and taiyaki filled with custard cream. 🎏 Recently, I even found the famous Press Butter Sand cookies that are super popular in Japan! 🍪💖 #BostonEats #JapaneseMarket #BostonFoodie #Maruichi #Wagyu #Sukiyaki #AsianGrocery #JapanInBoston #BostonLife
